A healthier way of doing business
Are you one of Maryland’s many small business owners preparing for the opportunity to provide quality health coverage to your employees? Maryland Health Connection is here to help you select the right health plans to offer your employees when enrollment begins in April 2014.
Making high-quality health coverage accessible to small businesses
You may already know that health insurance is an attractive part of an overall benefits package, helping small businesses like yours to recruit and retain talented employees. Starting in April 2014, there is a new way for Maryland’s small employers to find and purchase small group health insurance coverage for their employees. The Small Business Health Options Program (SHOP) provides small businesses with one to 50 full-time equivalent employees the opportunity to compare and select from a variety of qualified health plans.
Maryland small group health insurance plans are offered by insurance companies approved by the State of Maryland to provide the level of benefits you want to offer your workforce. Maryland Health Connection makes it easy for you and your employees to understand the options, so they can review, compare and enroll in plan that best meets their needs.
The SHOP allows you and your employees to do side-by-side comparisons of health plans based on benefits, premiums and out-of-pocket costs. Know all of your options for small group health insurance in Maryland. Access the SHOP through your insurance agent or third party administrator (TPA), or directly at MarylandHealthConnection.gov beginning in April 2014.
More choices in health insurance for your employees
We recognize that each business owner’s needs are different. Maryland small group health insurance offers four levels of options—bronze, silver, gold and platinum—to make it easier for both you and your employees to compare plans. The SHOP has no specific open enrollment period, so you can sign up at any time after April 1, 2014.
Maryland Health Connection helps ease the process of selecting the right plans to offer your employees an array of health coverage features and benefits. We provide dedicated support ready to answer your questions and guide you through every step of plan selection.
