What should I do if I already filed my 2014 taxes or recently filed my taxes, but am still being billed for the full cost of my health insurance?

If you would like to continue your health insurance coverage in 2016, it’s important that you continue to pay your premiums on time, even if you are not eligible for financial assistance.

Please note it may take up to six weeks for Maryland Health Connection to be updated about your 2014 tax filing status. Once your tax-filing status is updated, you should come back to Maryland Health Connection to file a new application to receive financial assistance with your plan in 2016. You may be eligible for a Special Enrollment Period (SEP).

If you filed your 2014 taxes correctly already but Maryland Health Connection has not yet been notified or the IRS says you have not yet filed, you should work with the IRS to fix the issue. By law Maryland Health Connection is unable to provide you with financial assistance until you have filed.
