New Rules for Medicaid Coming Soon
A new federal law, H.R. 1, as passed by Congress and signed into law by President Trump, adds new requirements for up to 320,000 Maryland Medicaid members. The Maryland Department of Health, Maryland Health Connection, our Managed Care Organizations and community partners are working together to help Maryland families navigate these new changes and stay covered.

1. Show you are working or taking part in other activities, such as:
Earn $580 a month
OR
Go to school at least half time
OR
Do 80 hours of approved activities in a single month. You can spend those 80 hours doing any mix of these things:
Working at a job that pays you
Going to school
Learning new job skills in a training program
Volunteering to help your community
2. Renew your coverage twice a year
Adults who must meet work/activity requirements above will also need to renew Medicaid every 6 months instead of every 12 months.
In order to renew Medicaid, you may need to show:
Your income
Your work or activities
The new federal rules begin in January 2027. When you renew your coverage next year, you will need to complete work requirements or other activities to keep your coverage.
