When you apply for health coverage through Maryland Health Connection, you can protect yourself from fraud by taking the following actions:

• Make sure you are on the Official Website, www.marylandhealthconnection.gov. Maryland Health Connection is not affiliated with any other websites.
• Make sure you are working with a certified consumer assistance worker, by asking to see a photo ID and their State of Maryland certification.
• All services provided by Maryland Health Connection are free services.  If someone requires or advertises a fee to help you enroll through Maryland Health Connection, do not work with them and report it immediately to Maryland Health Connection’s Compliance Hotline at 410-547-6862.
• You should only provide your financial information through Maryland Health Connection.

If you suspect identity theft or feel like you gave your personal information to someone you should not have, contact the Federal Trade Commission at https://www.ftccomplaintassistant.gov/.

If you suspect insurance fraud, call the Maryland Insurance Administration at 410-468-2000.

If you suspect fraud in the state government, visit the OLA Fraud Hotline website.

If you suspect that your personal information have been improperly used or disclosed, call the Maryland Health Benefit Exchange Compliance Hotline at 410-547-6862.
