If you have a private health plan through Maryland Health Connection, you can renew or change your plan Nov. 1–Jan. 15. Enroll Nov. 1-Dec. 31 for coverage beginning Jan. 1. Enroll Jan. 1-15 for coverage beginning Feb. 1.
You will receive a notice in the mail or your online account to choose a new plan or take any special steps to avoid losing coverage. Otherwise, you will be renewed automatically into your current plan or similar coverage for the following year.
Your important next steps:
1. Update your Maryland Health Connection application.
Review your information in your online account carefully, and use the Change My Information button if anything has changed.
If you don’t update your income and household information, your premium tax credit and other savings could be wrong.
2. Decide if you want to stay enrolled in this plan or choose a different one.
Plans and prices change every year. You may find a plan that is better for you and your family this year, especially if your current plan’s premium increases or you’ve had or expect income or household changes.
If you’re changing plans, be sure to check with your doctors to be sure they accept the new plan, so you pay less for services.
3. Get free help understanding your options.

Medicaid and MCHP renewals:
If anyone in your household is enrolled in Medicaid or the Maryland Children’s Health Program (MCHP), they do not need to take any action during the open enrollment period unless they have received a notice telling them to renew coverage. Medicaid/MCHP enrollees generally renew coverage every 12 months.
