Changes to eligibility for financial help are coming.
Most legally present Marylanders are eligible for financial assistance when enrolling in a private plan (see “Which immigration statuses are eligible to enroll in a private health plan?” above).
However, if your income is below 100% of the federal poverty level ($15,650 for a single person in 2025) and you are not eligible for Medicaid due to the 5-year waiting period, you will no longer be eligible for financial assistance starting January 1, 2026 because of changes in federal law. Individuals in this group will still be eligible to enroll in coverage through Maryland Health Connection but will have to pay the full cost.
